Praise From Parents
Art Smart Adventures brings the art of looking to children (and the fortunate adults who accompany them) in such a personal way. Judith Shupe Walsh’s deep knowledge of the subject matter has enhanced all of our visits to the Met, even when we go without her. Her creative and gentle guidance and insights have inspired us to explore new galleries and to look at art all over the city with a new and careful eye. Art Smart Adventures is one of the smartest treasures that kids and grown-ups can enjoy together.
— Mother of Dominick, one very cultured kid
As a regular on the "enrichment class circuit" and a frequent museum-goer, my son has taken more than his share of art classes over the years. Some have been good. But none have come close to replicating the experience that he has had with Art Smart Adventures.

Think about how much more interesting an art exhibit is when you take the time to actually rent the available audio guide. Now, imagine that the person whispering in your ear is your very favorite teacher - ever. The teacher who made learning feel like fun. The one who taught you all those neat little nuggets of information that you still recall, 20 years later. The teacher who made the most esoteric ideas manageable (and relevant).

Judith Walsh is such a person. In the guise of a private art history lesson (whose very subject is often determined according to the personal interests of the individual student), every week she expands my son's cultural literacy. In the process she contributes to the development of his concentration, observation, and comprehension skills. Art Smart Adventures has been a revelation - for the both of us.
— Mother of Liam, age 6, a true Arty Smarty

Just wanted to thank you very, very much for yesterday. My daughter seemed to have been absolutely, totally taken with it — she didn't even want to go off to dinner with us, she wanted to stay and work on her art books and stuff. You touched a real nerve — I don't know whatever it was that you did with this architecture stuff! She was just really enthralled with all of it.
— Art-collecting father of a 9-year old

My family and I went to the Met on Saturday and thought about you. I wanted you to know that my daughter walked around the Met like she owned the place. Actually, she said "Let's go see this. Let's go see that." She knew that museum far better than my husband and I do. We really credit you with giving her that kind of familiarity there.
— Mother of a 4-year-old

I appreciate your thoughtful approach to all things art! We're delighted with all you've done. In fact, last night we drove past the Met, and my daughter blurted out, "The Metropolitan! The Metropolitan!" with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for "FAO Schwarz"! So keep up the good work.
— Mom of a 5-year-old
