NYC tour ideas and options. Check out these great museum tours and fun themes for kids and families to explore.
Art Smart knows just how to make the most of your NYC museum visit. Each adventure is filled with games, seek-and-find activities, and art projects. We always prefer to customize museum tours to a family’s interests. Yet we know some families like to start with knowing our suggestions. Here are a few samples of our museum tours that we can build on:

All Around the Metropolitan Museum of Art Highlights Tour
Travel the globe in one afternoon! On our journey, you can see high art from the four corners of the world. How about a trip to the Astor Court with a Chinese garden? Then the Temple of Dendur and the mummies from Egypt, the painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware, kings and queens from Medieval Europe, and so much more! We see all the children's best-loved works on an adventurous museum tour through the museum. This hunt is complete with an explorer's bag filled with treasure maps, art clues, and gallery games.

Silly Squiggles? Modern Art at MoMA, the Guggenheim and the Whitney!
Many people think that Modern art is just a bunch of silly squiggles. Oh, but the ideas are so much more interesting than that! From movements to models, from Picasso to Pollock, New York City offers some of the very best of Modern art at places like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Guggenheim and the Whitney.

American Museum of Natural History
The perennial favorite, the big blue whale, is just the beginning. Here we can take an African safari full of (stuffed) animals, or be dazzled by dinosaurs. There's a ton to see, do, and learn around the Rose Center for Space and Earth as well. A backpack with magnifying glasses, binoculars, and an explorer map will make this adventure better than ever! This museum tour features games and of course, animal hunts.

We also do museum tours through:
The riches of the entire world are within our grasp here in New York, where we can choose any one of these exciting museums for an exploration. In addition to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, The Guggenheim, and The Whitney, and the American Museum of Natural History, we also organize Family Expeditions and Museum Adventures for Kids through:

American Folk Art Museum
Asia Society Museum
Brooklyn Museum of Art
The Cloisters
The Jewish Museum
Museum for African Art
Plus... For those who want themed tour of the Met
Monster Hunt: The Grand Tour of Classical Antiquity
This expedition shows that "antiquity" doesn't mean "stuffy" — we liven it up with games and adventures. Find a sphinx, a centaur, and the Minotaur, and hear all about the Greek myths on this "monstrous" museum tour. How can you tell if a work of art is a Greek original or Roman copy? Come find out!

Cool Knights, From Medieval Jousters to Samurai Warriors
New York has one of the best armor collections in the world, from lion-head helmets to armor fit for a child. Learn about medieval tournaments from a knight's point of view! This museum tour can be topped off with an exporation of armor around the word, from Japanese Samurai to armor from antiquity.

Memorable Mummies and Famed Pharaohs
An all-time hit with some interesting twists. Sure to be fun for everyone! Our museum tour begins inside a real tomb before we head to a room filled with mummies and coffins. Along the way, children hunt down animal-headed canopic jars and the all-important scarab beetle. We'll check out some of the crowns that pharaohs wore, and spot some spectacular statues of Egyptian gods.

How Does your Garden Grow? Impressionist Gardens
Discover how art styles grew and developed in the great outdoors! We'll explore the paintings of Monet, Manet, and even the Post-Impressionists Gauguin, van Gogh, and Cézanne. This hunt is filled with fun facts for every child. This exploration can be followed with chalk, crayon, and oil pastel drawing.

Masters in the Making: Masterpieces From Europe
You name the Master, we have fabulous examples right here in New York City! From the dramatic views of El Greco to the serene images of Vermeer, your child can master the Masters!

Screens and Scrolls: Arts of Japan and China
Come visit either The Asia Society art collection or the Asian galleries of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. We’ll explore the famous screens of Ogata Korin and woodcuts of Kitagawa Utamaro, then examine amazingly long scrolls using a magnifying glass.

Animals in Africa
Find out how the leopard got his spots as we hunt through the African galleries spotting animal artifacts and African masks. Discover the power behind the Power Figures!
